This week at the Tap, we're going to take a look at the phenomenon known as the "Super Bowl" and the theology of sport, etc.
Is it okay to pray for a football game?
Last week, after the Colts' 38-to-34 victory earned them a trip to the Super Bowl, QB Peyton Manning said, "I don't know if you're supposed to pray for stuff like that, but I said a little prayer." Colts chaplain Ken Johnson said he was "praying feverishly" himself during the game, and he believes divine intervention played a role in the outcome. Johnson, who leads pre-game services and Bible studies for coaches and players, said he believes "God is up in heaven looking down on this game." As he sees it, "God is concerned about his people and the things his people are concerned about here."
What do you think?

A chaplin, on a professional football team? C'mon, I'd understand if it was like Notre Dame, but the NFL? I think God does intervene, but more like He intervenes in our everyday lives, that is, woven into the very fabric of us. Harrison, Manning, Wayne etc. can do what they do because of the way God made them and a whole lot of hard work and time. toby
