Suddenly I See - God in a Song

Pentecost Sunday is just around the corner and I’m planning to re-do (with a few changes!) a monologue that I did for Pentecost from a few years back.   So the other night, I went for a walk late in the evening and began to listen to that very monologue on my ipod.  As the monologue ended, the next song on my ipod happened to be KT Tunstall’s song “Suddenly I See.”  And bam, it was such an unexpected God thing!  Just read the lyrics!

Pentecost is about the coming of the Spirit, and if we personify the Spirit to be female… this song speaks volumes to who and what the Spirit does… beautiful, captivating, warm, fills up… she has the power to give, the power to see…   And although Tunstall uses the “h e double hockey stick” word, the question is still the same: What does the presence of the Spirit mean to you and your life?

KT TUNSTALL LYRICS

"Suddenly I See"

Her face is a map of the world

Is a map of the world

You can see she's a beautiful girl

She's a beautiful girl

And everything around her is a silver pool of light

The people who surround her feel the benefit of it

It makes you calm

She holds you captivated in her palm

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)

This is what I wanna be

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)

Why the hell it means so much to me

I feel like walking the world

Like walking the world

You can hear she's a beautiful girl

She's a beautiful girl

She fills up every corner like she's born in black and white

Makes you feel warmer when you're trying to remember

What you heard

She likes to leave you hanging on her word

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)

This is what I wanna be

Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)

Why the hell it means so much to me

And she's taller than most

And she's looking at me

I can see her eyes looking from a page in a magazine

Oh she makes me feel like I could be a tower

A big strong tower

She got the power to be

The power to give

The power to see

So, where have you unexpectedly experienced God?  For me, I have been moved in the last month in a few films (the Kite Runner, Bobby) in a book (the Shack), in a song (Suddenly I See).  God is speaking.  The Holy Spirit is moving.

Where have you unexpectedly experienced God?  Blog it!

Pentecost

Pentecost (Ancient Greek: πεντηκοστή [ἡμέρα], pentekostē [hēmera], "the fiftieth day") is one of the prominent breitling watches feasts in the Christian liturgical year. The feast is also called Whitsun, Whitsunday, Whit Sunday, and Whitsuntide, especially in the United Kingdom. Pentecost is celebrated seven weeks (49 days) after Easter Sunday, hence its name.Pentecost falls on the tenth day after Ascension Thursday.

Historically and symbolically related to the Jewish harvest festival of Shavuot, which commemorates God giving the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai fifty days after the Exodus pocket watches , Pentecost now also commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus as described in the Book of Acts, Chapter 2 in the New Testament. For this reason, Pentecost is sometimes described as "the Church's birthday".
The Pentecostal movement swatch watches of Christianity derives its name from this biblical event.
