Africa is Calling
Submitted by Toby on Mon, 2011-04-04 07:37. BlogWe’ve recently received some exciting (okay, not super exciting, but exciting to us nonetheless) about our first few months in Tanzania. After orientation in Dar es Salaam, we’ll be heading inland to Riverside Campsite. There we’ll spend our first few months learning Swahili.
It’s not exactly ‘roughing’ it, but for a city-boy like me, it looks plenty rough.
A Tapestry of Words

But I think I'm going to start it going again by posting a nifty text cloud of 150 of the most frequent words used on our blog. The bigger the word the more frequent the usage. The black text cloud is Pastor Al's blog, and the white text cloud are all blog posts. Al... I think you need to use love more :).
What do you think of the text clouds? Are they reflective of The Tapestry as a community? Goat, Teresa, Millionaire make me smile. They're kind of like inside jokes aren't they?

Life Without a Television – Week 1
Submitted by Toby on Mon, 2008-02-11 23:40. Blog Well first off, I want to say that for some of you life without a television is absolutely normal. Maybe you don’t have a tele or have one and don’t really watch it. For others however that statement may strike fear in your heart inducing an instant anxiety grab-the-remote-as-fast-as-you-can kind of feeling. For Loretta and I it’s somewhere in between.
But the fact that it was lent began last (Ash) Wednesday, our small groups study of spiritual disciplines, and that we’ve been talking about it for quite sometime finally led us to make this decision.
Plastic Bags Are Forever.... forever forever

Like if you ever wanted to explain to a kid the concept of eternal just show them a freshly minted Safeway bag and explain how from now on, the bag is going to be around. Sure you might not see it anymore as it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces, but they’ll be there to reassemble like one huge jigsaw puzzle a lifetime from now.
Podcasts Away!

Sometimes they get stuck in the tubes, but once in awhile they turn up in odd places. The good news is, it's even easier to listen to our podcasts!
