Karen Schaffer

Pastor of Faith Formation

Having lived in different countries with diverse cultures, Karen understands deeply the universal hunger for a sense of home, wholeness, belonging and identity, and is witness to Christ as the ultimate source and fulfilment of all human longings.

Karen has a B.Sc. in Genetics from UBC and a B.Ed. from Brock University.  After working as a scientist, public school teacher and baker, she joined the Tapestry Staff as Children’s Director in 2012.  Stepping down in 2015 to pursue an M.A. in Theological Studies at Regent College, Karen is grateful for the opportunity to return as Pastor of Faith Formation, to walk with others in discovering, remembering and following Jesus in the everyday.

On days off, you can find Karen spending time with her husband Paul and their girls, Isabella and Kiana, playing Olympic-level hopscotch, experimental-baking and slow-hiking to take pictures of moss.
