Daniel 2:31-49
Daniel interprets Nebuchadnezzar dream about a huge statue that symbolizes the kingdoms of the world. One day, a rock will crash and smash the kingdoms of the world. This rock will eventually grow to a mountain that fills the earth (v.35). Therefore God brings about this "kingdom to end all kingdoms” in Jesus. We now live in the reality of that Rock that has crashed into the world, and the mountain that is the Kingdom of God will one day fill the earth. Other kingdoms still exist, but they will not outlast this kingdom. This kingdom is supernatural, secure, and spreading. Therefore as citizens of this kingdom, we are called to live with the kingdom prayer and practices necessary to witness to the world, to convict it, to bless it, and to transform it, so that they too one day will say to us: “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.” (v.47)
