Small Groups COVID-19 Update

March 18 2020
March 18 2020

By
Over the past few days, things have been continuing to develop at a rapid rate.  As the situation around us continues to change we are trying our best to formulate appropriate responses and recommendations.  In light of the recent news and recommendations on COVID-19, we are encouraging all our small groups in the Tapestry Church Network to find ways to connect and meet virtually. We are not giving up on meeting together, but given the situation we need to also find ways to meet safely as well as do our part in helping contain the spread and rate of infection of this virus.

Some easy video-conferencing software that you can use to meet virtually is as follows.
  1. Google Hangouts. Just recently they have increased the number of participants per video hangout to 25. It is App and web-based and also functions across multiple platforms and is also fairly straightforward to use.
  2. Skype Is also App and web-based and can work across multiple platforms. It can have up to 50 people per conference call.
  3. Let us Schedule a Zoom Meeting For You! If you think your group would have problems setting something like this up, let us set it up for you!  The Tapestry has a zoom account.  Contact Jeff at jeffrey@thetapestry.ca with the date and time of your meeting and he will set up a zoom meeting for you. You will then receive an email with a link that you can forward to all your group members to click on and to join in a video meeting!
Some other ways your group can stay connected during this time are
  1. Creating a group chat through Messenger, WhatsApp or email.
  2. Starting a spiritual habit together where everyone decides to pray, do devotions, or watch our online worship services at the same time.
  3. Get an accountability partner or partners of 2 or 3 and commit to calling one another and praying for one another.
We know this is a challenging time for many of us in the Tap family. As staff, we are continuing to pray for you and your groups.  We are also trying our best to find creative ways to keep us connected through these times. We are all woven in this together, so let us not give up on finding ways to be the church with one another and in our communities. In the end I am glad we have a big God that we can turn to who holds all of this in his hands. Let us not give up on turning to him for strength, patience, and calm.
