The Tapestry Church Re-Opening Plan

September 10 2021
September 10 2021

Welcome home.

It has certainly been an unusual and unprecedented 16 months. Although this pandemic has greatly affected the manner in which we have done church, it has not stopped us from still being and doing church together.  Church is about more than a building or a service; Church is about a people.  Throughout this year, we were still able to gather, pray, and worship together through on-line video and streamed services, “zoomed” small groups and cohorts, socially-distanced outdoor gatherings and walks, and for the last month, reduced capacity in-person worship gatherings.

Starting July 1st, 2021, the Province will be entering Stage 3 of the BC Reopening Plan.  As part of that plan, there will no longer be any capacity limits or restrictions on religious gatherings and worship services.

We are thus super excited to meet together again as a church family without any restrictions!  After all, we recognize that the church is meant to gather in-person, and meeting together is critical for community and discipleship.

As we reopen our worship gatherings, we recognize that you may have questions as to what to expect, so some things to consider:

  • Pre-registration: Starting July 1st, we will be welcoming our church family back to our worship gatherings without any capacity limits.  Therefore, there will no longer be any need to register in advance to attend.

  • Worship Seating: Seating in the sanctuary will be as spaced-out as possible, and we encourage people to sit with their house-hold bubble.  As much as possible, we ask that you socialize outside after the service.

  • Worship Liturgy: Per usual, our worship gatherings will include live music, responsive prayers, reading of scripture, and the preaching of God’s Word.  Singing will now be permitted.  Communion, if done, will be offered in single cup servings.

  • Masks: Masks are recommended in public indoor settings for all people 12 and older who are not yet fully vaccinated. (One is fully vaccinated 14 days after their second dose).  We recognize that some people may choose to continue to wear a mask even after they're fully vaccinated.

  • TapKids: The TapKids program will be slightly different for each Campus.  Mundy Park and Tap Nights will run a TapKids program in which children will be released after the TapKids message in the worship gathering.  Tap Richmond will run a concurrent TapKids program separate from the worship gathering and which requires pre-registration. A TapKids program at Tap Marpole will launch soon!

  • Streamed Services:  Each campus will continue to stream their worship gatherings at the scheduled time for those who are unable or choose not to attend in person.

We acknowledge that this transition back to in-person gatherings will take some time, and that everyone has different circumstances and comfort levels.  Our hope and prayer is that these worship gatherings, whether you join in-person or continue to watch on-line, would help us all grow as disciples of Jesus.

Love, joy, and peace,

Albert YS Chu, Lead Pastor

Jesse Pals, Tap Marpole

Samuel Lee, Tap Mundy Park

Michael Yang, Tap Nights

Albert Wu, Tap Richmond
