Song of Songs_Longing for Intimacy
“Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—for your love is more delightful than wine.” Songs of Songs 1:2
Without any filter, without restraint, the woman takes initiative and speaks. She wastes no time. She gets right to the point and what she expresses is nothing but pure and passionate desire for her lover. In the opening verses of the Songs, we have the love of eros writ large, written with the full power of all our senses at work: touch, taste, smell. The language is sensual, evocative and is intended to wake it’s reader up to desire and longing, a longing for love. “Take me away with you—let us hurry! Let the king bring me into his chambers“ (1:4). In this study, you will explore the passionate love of God who not only loves us with a zealous love but who loves us graciously and full of mercy.
