Song of Songs_Flourishing Love
“My beloved speaks and says to me: ‘Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; for now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come…” Songs of Songs 2:10-12
Nestled in the middle of the 66 books that make up the canon of Scripture, one could argue that the Song of Songs is the heartbeat of the whole biblical story, that sings the whole story of God’s redeeming love, which first started in Genesis and continues all the way to Revelation. The Songs are clearly a beautiful love story between two lovers who passionately love one another and whose love causes the flourishing of life, yet it’s also a song about that great and grand story of God’s love for humanity that causes all of creation to flourish. “For now the winter is past, the rains is over and gone…the season of singing has come.”
